TACT ‘Next Generation’ – event sponsored by Reed Smith and Law Debenture and held at the offices of Law Debenture in London on Wednesday 18th June.
The event was designed to offer juniors, new joiners and those with under approximately 5 years’ experience in the corporate trust space an informal opportunity to make connections and catchup with like-minded individuals.
Ben Kerawala of Reed Smith opened the event and outlined the TACT Next Gen initiativehe is leading and thanked George Ackerman of Law Debenture for hosting the event and provided great tech support on the slides. Proving that trustees (and their advisers) are masters of many talents!
Belinda Riley, a specialist consultant, on the role of the next generation in fostering a culture of transformative and inclusive leadership, sponsorship and allyship provided an interactive keynote speech with Q&A.
Belinda spoke on how to navigate the workplace authentically as well as the importance of companies looking at the diversity output of inclusion and belonging.
She highlighted that it is the first time that 5 generations are at 1 workplace – the traditionalists, the Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z. From these generations, Millennials and Gen Z make up of 75% of the employees in the workplace. Companies may not see inequality in workplace as they are not understanding this new workforce.
Inclusive workplaces are not created by accident, but as a result of intent and leadership. Belinda rounded off by reminding attendees that culture is not just dictated from the top but its is how each individual in an organisation behaves and acts.
The event was well attended and was followed by a networking reception.
